We will support you through the entire process. Here are the steps to gather anonymous opinions regarding your candidacy for election or re-election from your target population.
1. Create a short and meaningful Survey Code that participants will enter as part of the survey, identifying them as valued participants
2. Determine the survey period and end date
3. Identify the target audience for opinions on your candidacy and performance
4. Gather email addresses for all prospective participants
5. Draft a Survey Invitation email for participants, which includes the following:
- State that you are soliciting and value their opinion on several important issues related to your performance and that of your municipality/city/county
- Ask them to kindly complete the survey at https://survey.politicalharmony.us/ before your proposed survey end date using your specific Survey Code (Question 33)
- Remind them that No Opinion is a valid response for any required question.
- Ask that they correct any errors (such as unanswered questions) when attempting to ‘Submit Survey’, and make sure they receive the Survey Successfully Completed message to have their opinions recorded
- Assure each respondent that their participation will remain completely private and anonymous
- Optional: ask that they reply to your email if they would like to receive the results of the survey
6. Send the email invitation with ample time for the participants to make time to complete the survey by your target end date
7. Check with us during the survey period for a status of the current number of completed surveys
8. Notify us when you are satisfied that the survey has ended and you want to receive the Civic Leadership Assessment Report and raw data.
Important Privacy Note – Make the participants feel confident that their answers are anonymous and will not be connected to them personally. Your designated survey code is used only to identify valid responses and ensure that their opinions are included in the final results and Civic Leadership Assessment Report.
What the numbers tell you
Unlike social media which streams negative, speculative, and unfounded conclusions, our Assessment provides an accurate scientifically valid statistical understanding of opinions from people who matter to you.
Perception is Reality. The assessment measures the perceptions of people “who matter to you,” neighbors, co-workers, and community members. It will reveal the perception of:
- What seems to be going well
- What seems to be NOT going well
- What dimensions should you watch
That is important for you because their perception is their image of the municipality. Perception is Reality.
How It Benefits You
The Civic Leadership assessment has proven to be statistically valid and reliable. That is important because validity and reliability make the results from the assessment scientifically accurate and therefore useful.
It is not a bunch of unfounded complaints from one or two people posting on social media or the chronically aggrieved who fume as they speak during public comments at your council meetings.
You chose the people whose opinion you value, for example, your neighbors, co-workers, and community members.
When you sponsor the assessment:
- you are the owner of the resulting data
- the information and assessment belong to you
- it is considered proprietary and will not be shared by PHCS
Use the report to resolve issues before they develop into full-blown perilous problems. Our assessment results will guide you in the right direction.
